I’ve always seen vacations as a one-way ticket for couples to have some well deserved fun sex. An easy way to shake off domestic routines and allow the more relaxed side of our personality to come out.

In fact, countless couples have shared their out-of-their-usual-comfort-zone sexual escapes when they were in a foreign city/ resort/ beach.

Imagine my disappointment when just the opposite happened. I just got back from a skiing vacation with my husband’s family—a large, lovely and fun group of people. But there was zippo sex and now zippo desire to have sex for…quite some time.

I have an 11-year-old son. He is still more sweet and innocent than anything else. He is a good boy who never gives me any trouble. Like me, he’s a rule-follower-bordering-on-people-pleaser (not necessarily a good thing).

I love my little guy, my first-born, so so much. But I have a major issue with him that shows no sign of resolution.

He pees all over the seat in each of the 3.5 bathrooms in my house. ALL OVER. Actually, scratch that. He pees all over the seat, the floor and the surrounding walls in each of the 3.5 bathrooms in my house.

(Again, if this isn’t your thing, that’s totally cool — just abandon this blog entry now. I warned you.)

I honestly don’t know how one little guy who doesn’t drink all that much has so much pee to pee in the first place. And regardless of the amount, can’t he just make the inside of the bowl and then go that extra mile and actually flush it?

I have this little ritual that I really enjoy and that really helps me feel organized and on top of things with my car. Filling up my gas tank takes about 10  or so minutes, sometimes a bit more if the pump is slow or I am way down on empty. 

I really look forward to these 10 minutes, about twice per week. I take the time to click on the pump so it automatically pumps and stays in my car, and meanwhile I clean out all of the papers and junk in my car.

I throw out all of the trash right there at the gas station, organize receipts, gather all hair clips and scrunchies for return to my house and sometimes even go through that day’s mail and toss 90% on the spot.

I leave the gas station feeling pretty good about the world — my tank is full, li life is organized for that one moment and my car as clean as it’s going to get.
